Ibrahim El Minyawi is a heavyweight among the world´s percussion masters and embodies the traditional earthbound rhythms of his Egyptian home like no other.
His sensibility and percussion technique have made him one of the undisputed virtuosos worldwide on his instrument, the tabla. For over 50 years, he has played in top venues throughout Egypt, Europe and the Arabian world.
In Daqat II - together with his son Ali El Minyawi - he creates new variations of century-old traditions without losing sight of his roots. This CD comes with a 20-page booklet incorporating photos and historical documentation.
